Well Hello There!

My name is Jennifer or you can call me Jenn for short. My husband and I have been together since 2005 and married since 2010. We have two boys, Jericho (10) and Jaxon (3) and they both keep my husband and me on our toes! Our family is truly blessed with amazing family and friends, a house to live in and great jobs. Currently, I’m working full time at a construction management company as an administrative assistant.  I just hit my 1 year work anniversary after being in Optometry for 7 years.

Why Start a Blog?

Let’s back up a few years. Back when I was working in optometry. I loved my job I was active on boards, committees and a commission on both state and national levels, but I was stressed all the time and not myself. My mom told me I needed SVLA (Synovation Valley Leadership Academy, which I will write a post on later.) So I took the plunge and signed up.

Part of the class included one-on-one coaching sessions with Dr. Dee, our instructor.  I had no clue what I was walking into, but it was part of the package and I was going to utilize everything I got out of it as I was ready to get unstuck, although I didn’t really realize all that at the time. Through coaching, I uncovered limiting beliefs that I had from past experiences and that I wasn’t being my true authentic self. I also discovered my passion and purpose through this class and coaching sessions.

My passion was to help people. I wasn’t sure what that meant, but the idea of starting a blog came to me to share my stories and how I overcome obstacles that come in my way. I have always had a passion for writing, but lost myself along the way of life and haven’t been doing much of it in my adult life. As you can tell in some of my blog posts, I had to overcome fears to put myself out there. I think it has been about 2 years since this blog idea was planted into my head and I’m ready to make it more of a reality.

During this journey of mine, I have also discovered life coaching which I’ll share a little about.

Why Life Coaching?

So as I shared earlier, I discovered my purpose in life was to help others, however, I still felt like there was something missing. How was I going to live my purpose of helping others? During a coaching session with my coach, I discovered that it was to become a coach and help others get unstuck like I was. I want to help others discover their passions and purposes. Coaching helped me get through a career change and especially helped me in that decision process.

I started a coaching program through Valorie Burton’s CaPP (Coaching and Positive Psychology.) At the end of July, I flew down to Georgia and completed the 3-day intensive training and came home with a certificate in personal development coaching. My next step is to start the 6-month program for CPEC (Coaching Personal and Executive Certification) in January. I also plan on getting credentialed through the International Coaching Federation (ICF.)

Along with coaching individuals, I have been working on tying in coaching business owners and managers in creating their ideal culture in their workplace and doing some public speaking.

I am excited to share this journey with you! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you are interested in learning more about coaching.
