Brain Dump

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by all that is going on in your head?

What projects do I have going on at work? Do I have enough clean clothes? Is there enough gas in the car? I need to remember to call and make that appointment. I haven’t spent time with my friends lately, we should make a plan to get together. When am I going to have time to clean my house? When will I get time for myself? What would I even do if I had time to myself?

I could go on and on. Somedays I feel my brain going in a million different directions and I don’t know what I need to do next.

I wanted to share with you what I have found works for me when I find myself being pulled every which way by my brain.

A brain dump.

Pull out a piece of paper and a pen and start writing down anything and everything that is in your head.

If you like digital better, check out (I love this for when I’m on my computer!)

Once you have anything and everything that comes to mind on the paper, go back through and highlight or circle the 3 things that are most important to get done right now.

I usually write these down on a sticky note and keep my big list in my notebook.

Your brain can rest knowing you have everything that it was thinking down on paper and you have a shorter list of the 3 most important. Once you complete those, take your list back out and pick 3 more out!

I would love to hear other strategies that work for you when you are feeling overwhelmed! Share in the comments.
